about

CabbageCon Saigon is a small, friendly cybersecurity conference in Ho Chi Minh City. We're keeping it intentionally intimate, around 50 to 100 people, so everyone can meet everyone. It's presented by CabbageSec, a community whose goal is to create a space for Vietnamese cybersecurity practitioners and students to meet up, exchange knowledge, network, and learn from each other in a lowkey environment. Security folks, students, the curious. All are welcome.

mission

CabbageCon Saigon 1.0 is about building a tight-knit community, both here in HCMC and across the wider APAC hacker scene. Looking further out, CabbageSec's longer-term mission is to fund cybersecurity training for kids in rural Vietnam, where access to this kind of education is still scarce. Vietnam is full of talent. The long-term goal is to use this platform to bring together the professionals and organizations who can help make that happen, and to train the next generation of Vietnamese cybersecurity practitioners with the passion the field deserves.

why cabbage

Honestly? It's just a funny word. Just.. cabbage.

I also happen to like cabbage (who doesn't?). It's unassuming yet delicious, (kimchi!), healthy, a common ingredient in Vietnamese kitchen, and nobody takes it too seriously, which is exactly the energy we want for CabbageSec.

if you were hoping for a cooler origin story, we're sorry. kind of.
